WHO AM I?

Hi, I'm Ryan.

I’m an entrepreneur and technology executive, father, husband, community leader, avid learner and coach. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, exercising, reading, playing games.

I live in Troy, NY with my lovely wife, two children and our growing puppy.

EXPERIENCE

I’m an entrepreneur and technology executive that has coached, advised, and mentored technologists, engineers, executives, non-profit leaders, and venture backed founders across many stages of growth and acquisition. I am a trained Civil Engineer. I love building and creating sustainable impact in the world.

MY TIMELINE

  • 1981: Born in Iowa

  • 1987: Elementary school chess champion

  • 1992: First job delivering a weekly newspaper during the school year and detasseling corn in the summer.

  • 1993: Competed for an AAU baseball National Championship

  • 1995: Started coaching youth soccer as a specialist goalkeeper coach

  • 1998: Selected to US Soccer Olympic Development Program

  • 1999: Studied abroad in Nagoya, Japan with Youth for Understanding:

  • 2000: 3rd Team All American, 1st Team All Region High School Soccer; Started at Iowa State University

  • 2002: Stood on the summit of Devil’s Tower

  • 2003: Studied abroad at National University of Singapore. Did not get SARS.

  • 2004: Started Engineers for a Sustainable World at Iowa State University, led trip to Thailand to initiate humanitarian engineering projects with my girlfriend, Meredith.

  • 2005: Lived in the Mission District, San Fransisco and built condominiums south of AT&T Park

  • 2006: Became National Director of Operations for Engineers for a Sustainable World

  • 2007: Wrote National Science Foundation proposal to study the scalability of sustainable engineering and clean technology businesses

  • 2008: Married Meredith. Joined the Johnson Graduate School of Management MBA class of 2010

  • 2009: Led the Net Impact National Conference at Ithaca, NY

  • 2010: Joined GE on the Renewable Energy Leadership Program (dream job alert!)

  • 2012: Returned to Iowa as the GE representative at TPI-Iowa’s blade factory. Met president Obama.

  • 2014: Became a dad

  • 2016: Led my first acquisition and integration of Blade Dynamics

  • 2017: Supported the acquisition of LM Windpower and led integration of LM Windpower technology teams

  • 2018: Began developing technology businesses and partnerships in clean technology

  • 2020: Started coaching again… started with youth sports, grew into leaders, teams, executives and founders

  • 2024: Launched Intentional Growth Partners to support technology leaders to unlock their potential
